Its story belongs to its residents as well as to the priest they remember. From Delft to the BekaaA Dutch artist entered the Society of Jesus, trained in Lebanon, and spent his priestly and social ministry among villages in the northern Bekaa.Barqa and the work that remainsBarqa cannot be reduced to one man’s biography. Father Nicolas’s legacy is bound up with the work of residents, sisters, Jesuits, the Order of Malta and other supporters.TimelineThis timeline includes events with published support. Where sources differ, it gives a range or explains the disagreement instead of claiming false precision. The beatification cause: what is knownThe diocesan phase of Father Nicolas’s cause opened on 22 January 2022. Any later stage should be supported by a Church announcement, not by rumor or expectation.Places of memory and visitingThe Barqa health centre is verifiable. A press report identifies Father Nicolas’s tomb at Deir Taanayel. We found no announcement formally designating a sanctuary or approved shrine.Photographic archiveThis gallery preserves the project photographs as supplied, adds historical images published and credited to the “Barqa Archive,” and includes a recent photograph of the health centre. Each image has a source and a note on its limits.Media roomHear the story in its original voices, read the reporting, and return to the photographic record.A moment of peaceWhom can I bring peace to today?Sources and research methodClaims link to sources near the text.
